His journey began as a porter on Mount Kilimanjaro, where years of hard work, dedication, and passion led him to become a certified mountain guide. Today, he brings that same commitment to every climb and safari, ensuring guests feel safe, supported, and inspired throughout their adventure.
Having started from the ground up, Alfred believes in fair wages, professional development, and responsible tourism that benefits local communities. Through Alizeti Adventures, he supports his team, invests in education, and gives back to the villages that make these journeys possible.

Our Story
Our story began with our founder, Alfred Charles Mbuya, whose path from Kilimanjaro porter to certified mountain guide shaped the values we operate by: integrity, hard work, respect, and genuine hospitality. The word “alizeti” means a sunflower (in swahili), to mea a flower that turns to follow the sun across the sky. We invite every traveler to follow that same light, connect with the natural world, and experience Africa in a way that feels safe, personal, and memorable.
How We Give Back
A sunflower doesn’t just follow the light, it turns it into something it can share. We run Alizeti the same way. We pay our staff fair wages and provide proper meals on the mountain, and we support a village school in the Kilimanjaro region.
The goal is simple: what you experience on your trip should keep benefiting the people and places behind it, long after you’ve gone home.
